Stockton Police Officer Killed In Gunfight, Suspect Also Killed

UPDATE, Officer Identified: Police have identified the officer killed today as 30-year-old Jimmy Inn. Officer Inn left behind three children and a wife, who is also a member of the department. The children left behind are a 7-month-old son, a 12-year-old stepdaughter and a 14-year-old stepson.  Officer Inn had been a member of the department since 2015.

ORIGINAL STORY: Stockton, CA. –  A Stockton Police Officer was shot and killed after a gunfight on Tuesday. The suspect was also shot and killed.

Authorities say the shooting occurred in the 4400 block of La Cresta Way in Stockton after officers responded to a domestic violence report at around 9:45AM. Officer Inn arrived at around 10:07 a.m. and was shot by the suspect when he was near the front door of a residence.

Another officer who was nearby arrived and exchanged gunfire with the suspect.  The suspect ran in the home and returned outside holding an 8-year-old boy. A bystander tackled the suspect and an officer involved shooting occurred. It is believed the suspect was trying to kill the boy by strangling him.
