Representatives of India and France have successfully concluded negotiations regarding the purchase of 26 French-made Rafale M fighter jets by the Indian Navy. The total value of the contract will be US$7,6 billion. The formal agreements are expected to be signed in April 2025 during the visit of the head of the French military department to India.
The Indian Navy will acquire the Rafale M to replace its Russian-made fourth-generation multirole carrier-based fighters, the MiG-29K and its two-seat sibling the MiG-29KUB, currently in service with INAS 300 (White Tigers) and INAS 303 (Black Panthers). The new aircraft will be deployed on the Indian Navy’s aircraft carriers Ins Vikrant and Ins Vikramaditya.
Although the final procurement list for the French-Indian contract has not yet been officially approved and published, experts suggest that it will include 22 Rafale M fighters and four Rafale B Dual-Seat trainers…
