Going against the grain and their Western allies, Sweden has announced that they will be forgoing trying to meet their arbitrary climate and emission goals, and will instead build nuclear powerplants, shifting away from the initial â100% renewableâ goal to now â100% fossil-free,â creating the pathway to go nuclear.
Because of the heavy-handed restrictions levied against Russia, Sweden, the newest member of NATO, began telling their citizens this past winter to âbuild huts out of blanketsâ in order to stay warm, because of the inflated energy prices and shortages. At one point one county began to turn off streetlights at night to conserve power.
Euractiv reports that this will give âthe right-wing government the green light to push forward with plans to build new nuclear plants in a country that voted 40 years ago to phase out atomic power.â The new plan will allow the government to meet a forecast doubling of electricity requests approximately 300 TwH by 2040 and reach net zero emissions by 2045.
