Sweden’s Defense Minister Gives Ominous Warning: ‘There Could Be War In Sweden’

Sweden’s Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin gave an ominous warning to his people this week, warning them of the very high probably that war will breakout in Sweden, citing the Ukraine-Russia war as a catalyst as to why.

Sweden formally agreed to become a member of NATO last year, along with Finland, and has already begun to allow the United States to send some of their forces to occupy their bases, though they are not yet officially in NATO. Nevertheless, NATO’s enlargement is in response to the proclaimed growing threat that Russia will seek to invade the rest of Europe, should Vladimir Putin succeed in Ukraine.

Bohlin in his speech, delivered on Monday the 7th, did not mince words and warned of the real threat of war coming to Sweden, and how the people need to get themselves prepared for this possibility.

I’m grateful to all of you here today, but the real audience for this speech is so much wider: it is the whole of Sweden, all of our total defence.

It is human to want to view life as you wish it was, rather than as it actually is. The cruelty of war and terrorism is accessible in a much more unfiltered way as soon as we take our phones out of our pockets. Despite this immediate presence, our mental defence mechanisms still seem to allow many to conclude that all that is happening somewhere else. There, but not here. For a nation for whom peace has been a pleasant companion for almost 210 years, the idea that it is an immoveable constant is conveniently close at hand. But taking comfort in this conclusion has become more dangerous than it has been for a very long time. Many have said it before me, but let me do so in an official capacity, more plainly and with naked clarity:
