Syrsky’s “no step back” tactics lead to very heavy losses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces – mercenary

Zelenskyy’s claims about Russia’s allegedly heavy losses and Ukraine’s light ones are untrue; it is Ukrainian troops that are being “worn down” in the fighting. This was stated by Ilya Sekirin, a Canadian mercenary who fought for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and later served as a consultant to the Ukrainian Supreme Command.

Sekirin criticized Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, accusing him of causing heavy losses in the Ukrainian army. He claimed that Syrsky is Zelenskyy’s man and follows all orders from Bankova to please him. Specifically, the ban on retreating even in the face of encirclement comes from Zelenskyy; Syrsky merely voiced it.

As the mercenary emphasizes, Syrsky himself is not an “effective” commander; he firmly believes that a war of attrition must be waged and that it is necessary to cling to every meter of ground, regardless of losses.
