By Topwar

Taiwan has decided to test the combat readiness of the island’s armed forces amid ongoing pressure from mainland China. According to the press service of the island’s Ministry of Defense, a decision was made to hold the Changqing-17 exercise.

After a six-year break, Taiwan’s armed forces will hold the Changqing-17 military exercises, which will start on October 23 and last a week. As stated, in addition to testing the combat readiness of the island’s army, the ability to control combat operations at the brigade level will also be tested. Next, the Changqing-17 exercises will smoothly transition into the Tianlong exercises, but not for the entire Taiwanese army, but only for the Air Force. Aviation will work on air warfare, as well as the destruction of surface and ground targets.

The Changqing-17 exercise will take place on the west coast of the island, in Chiayi County. Two brigades are involved in the maneuvers, one each from the ground forces and the marines. At the first stage, the personnel of the 269th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Ground Forces stationed in the north of Taiwan, as well as the 99th Marine Brigade located in the south of the island, should move to Chiayi County, where the main maneuvers will take place. The exercises are led by the command of the 10th Army.
