Old social media posts are coming back to haunt Congressman Ted Lieu (D-CA) after his pearl-clutching condemnation of a White House post last week jokingly showing President Donald Trump draped in the papal cloth.
On Friday the official White House account shared an artificial photo of Trump wearing the hat and garb of the Catholic pope, prompting Lieu, a Catholic, to fire back about the perceived blasphemy.
“As a Catholic, I take great offense to Donald Trump mocking Catholics,” Lieu said in an X post.
“I wish Trump would focus on lowering prices instead. The American economy had negative GDP growth last quarter. That’s what he should be focused on instead of making fun of Catholics.”
