Temperatures drop to 0C as first snow of Winter arrives

  • Overnight temperatures plummeted to below average to 1C in some parts of UK
  • A Yellow weather warning is in place for northern Scotland all day on Wednesday
  • Met Office said country will see heavy snow showers and strong northerly winds
  • Temperatures expected to fall down to -4C (24.8F) from the middle of this week

The first flurry of winter hit the Pennines this morning as temperatures plummeted to 0C, with snowfall across northern England.

Parts of Britain are getting set for their first heavy bout of snow of the year as temperatures plunge below freezing in the coming days.

The harshest weather will be in the early hours of Thursday and Friday this week, with lows of -4C predicted in Aberdeenshire, the West Midlands and Cotswolds.
