The ceremony of launching the nuclear submarine “Prince Pozharsky” took place in Severodvinsk

The new nuclear submarine “Prince Pozharsky” was launched today in Severodvinsk. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The ceremony of launching the nuclear submarine took place at the Sevmash plant. It was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Naval fleet Russian Federation Admiral Nikolai Evmenov. He emphasized that the launch of the nuclear submarine indicates the further strengthening and development of Russian strategic nuclear forces, which play a vital role in deterring our potential adversaries.

Let us recall that the nuclear submarine cruiser “Prince Pozharsky” is the fifth submarine of Project 955A “Borey-A”. It was laid down in December 2016 at the Sevmash enterprise in Severodvinsk.

The Russian Ministry of Defense expects that a fourth-generation nuclear submarine will form the basis of Russia’s naval strategic nuclear forces for the coming decades. Nuclear submarines of this type are armed with Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles.
