Throughout the two-year lockdown/mask/mandate regime, we barely heard a peep out of the national Libertarian Party.
Some good work was done at the state and local level, and my friend Angela McArdle, of the Los Angeles County LP, did heroic work in Los Angeles against the absurd mandates there.
But the national party was a disgrace, as usual.
You can always count on the national party, and its feckless, constantly ratioed Twitter account, to jump on whatever the latest leftist bandwagon is, to adopt the regimeâs line on controversial issues (Tucker Carlson and January 6 are existential threats to America, of course), and to try to appear ârespectableâ as if that will make the regime like them.
Scanned the article – Interesting .. being a former official member of the Indiana libertarian party and having run for a county office 3 times this is my myopic assessment .
1. Duncan I like a lot of what you say but you can’t win on the libertarian ticket – they are right …. why cause no one thinks you can win so the lessor of 2 evils prevails .
2. Voting mentality and one party pull at the polls . Most people that vote for libertarian are either Republican or independent with a Republican mind set . When people have the option to pull a strait ballot .. they don’t think or look out side that box .
3.Past Baggage – sad to say that some Libertarians – and the media coverage of them show all of us as pro death ( abortion) pro open borders – and yes being in the party chains you to those people and the planks in either the state or National platform ….people don’t look at the person just the rhetoric.
4. People as a whole don’t want to be free. With freedom comes responsibility – most people dread it .( how many house holds get some form of government check ? ) – George Bernard Shaw Quotes
Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it.
5 . Rigged game – The Republicans and democrats make laws that shut out ( from practicality ) of non R or D getting on the ballot – I went down to the county court house to vote once and the county clerk talked about in years past ( before those laws of mandate ) that for a simple county office there may be 8 or 10 people on the general election ballot . Now 2 or 3 in essence since I ran too .
6. Last but not least …. ” I don’t care and I don’t care to know ” apathy.
