The House Votes For Formal Impeachment Inquiry Of President Joe Biden

On the very same day that Hunter Biden showed up at the U.S. Capitol as a result of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability issuing a subpoena for his deposition on his family’s finances and deviantly claimed that the committee was persecuting him to get to his father, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on a formal impeachment inquiry of his father, President Joe Biden.

The chamber voted 221 to 212 in a party-line vote to approve the resolution.

The impeachment inquiry gives the chamber more legal power to investigate the Biden family’s business dealings and alleged bribes.

For months, the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees have been trying to show that Joe Biden and his family were financially enriched by his family’s foreign business dealings and alleged bribes.

“This helps us get the witnesses, the key witnesses, that we want,” Chairman of the Judiciary Committee Jim Jordan (R-OH), said Wednesday, adding that it sent a “strong message” to the White House.

The formal authorization for impeachment inquiry gives the lawmakers far more legal leverage as they pursue documents and witness testimony, including from Hunter Biden, who defied his subpoena to appear for a closed-door deposition on Wednesday.

That argument convinced some Republicans who had been on the fence about the formal inquiry.

Congressman Don Bacon (R-Nebraska) was one of them.

“I said this summer, if the president is providing information, why do we need an inquiry?” Bacon said Tuesday. “But it changed when he stopped doing that.”

The House resolution establishes the rules for public hearings and directs the committees to produce a public report. A second resolution allows the committee chairmen the authority to seek judicial enforcement of their subpoenas if witnesses refuse to testify.
