The Russian President commented on the completion of tests of the newest cruise missile missiles With the Burevestnik nuclear power plant (NPP). According to Vladimir Putin, this missile has been in development since late 2001. The start of development is linked to the well-known US decision to unilaterally withdraw from the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty. As a reminder, US President George W. Bush announced this withdrawal on December 13, 2001.

Vladimir Putin announced that testing of the Burevestnik began in 2016.
