The Separation of God and State: Humanity’s Greatest Deception

You Were Never Meant to Be Ruled by Man

There’s something very important that I want to share with you — not from a place of judgment, but from a place of love and spiritual urgency.

You were never created to be ruled by man. You were made to live under the gentle and just rulership of your Creator — the One who knows you, formed you, and loves you deeply.

In the beginning, God was not only the Author of life but also the governing authority over His people. He gave His laws, not to control us, but to protect us and guide us into freedom, truth, and blessing.


God Was Always Supposed to Be Our King

When the Israelites were delivered from Egypt, God Himself led them — cloud by day, fire by night. He gave them His instructions through Moses, and later, through judges and prophets who sought His will. There were no elections, no power-hungry rulers, no national campaigns.

God was their King. Their Lawgiver. Their Judge.

“For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; He will save us.”
— Isaiah 33:22

This was His original design — and it was perfect.


But the People Wanted a Human King

In 1 Samuel 8, something heartbreaking happened. The people of Israel came to the prophet Samuel and said, “Give us a king, like all the nations have.”

God’s response was filled with sorrow:

“They have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.”
— 1 Samuel 8:7

Can you imagine it? After all He had done — delivering them, guiding them, loving them — they wanted to be like the world instead. And in His love and patience, God gave them what they asked for… even though He knew it would bring pain.


Human Government Was Never the Blessing — It Was the Consequence

So often, we assume government was part of God’s blessing. But the truth is, it was a response to rejection — a concession to human stubbornness.

“I gave you a king in My anger, and took him away in My wrath.”
— Hosea 13:11

God allowed it — but it was never His perfect will. Because the moment humanity places its trust in men over God, it begins to fall under systems that enslave, rather than set free.


The Great Lie: That Man Can Rule Without God

In our modern world, this deception has matured. We’ve been taught that faith and government must remain separate. That man-made law should take precedence over God’s Word. That we can build society on human reasoning alone.

But this separation of God and state is not progress — it’s rebellion in disguise.

Governments legalize what God calls sin. They punish those who stand for truth. They build systems of control, surveillance, censorship, and fear — all under the guise of “safety” and “service”.

And though it grieves me to say this, these systems are not neutral. From the very beginning, they were designed to control, and over time, they have become powerful instruments in the hands of the enemy.

“The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
— 1 John 5:19


What God Intended — And What Is Coming

When Jesus walked the earth, He didn’t come to start a religion. He came to restore the Kingdom of God — the divine government that had been lost.

“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”
— Matthew 4:17

This Kingdom is not built by human hands. It doesn’t require ballots or armies. It is a spiritual kingdom of righteousness, justice, truth, and peace. And one day soon, Jesus will return to establish it in fullness — not as a candidate, but as King of Kings.

“The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever.”
— Revelation 11:15


Until Then… We Must Come Out of Babylon

The systems of this world are not going to be healed — because they were never built on God’s foundation to begin with. They were built on pride, control, and compromise.

You and I — as part of God’s remnant — are called to come out of these systems in our hearts, our thinking, and wherever else we can.

“Come out of her, My people, so that you do not share in her sins…”
— Revelation 18:4

It’s time to return to God’s government — where His Word is our law, His Spirit is our guide, and His Son is our coming King.


A Loving Warning — and a Blessed Hope

My heart breaks for the world we see unraveling around us. So much pain, confusion, injustice, and fear. But beneath the shaking is a great spiritual truth:

When man separates himself from God, collapse always follows.

But this is not the end of the story.

A better Kingdom is coming. One that cannot be shaken. One that will never fall.

And until then, we wait with hope, walk with discernment, and build our lives on the only foundation that will last: the rule of God over our hearts and our homes.

“The Lord is our Judge. The Lord is our Lawgiver. The Lord is our King. He will save us.”
— Isaiah 33:22

    This is a great article; the passage I note got me thinking… I never knew that.
    – I wonder, if our constitution was predicated on the notion that government was a necessary evil, to be restrained and minimized as much as possible… *because govt was never a blessing.*

    Nevertheless, the ‘Separation of Church/State’ route we’ve taken was the wrong way.

    “Education and Encouragement – Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged”
    – The Northwest Ordinance; 1787

    “..if the study of the Bible is to be excluded from all state schools; if the inculcation of the principles of Christianity is to have no place in the daily program; if the worship of God is to form no part of the general exercises of these public elementary schools; then the good of the state would be better served by restoring all schools to church control.”
    – National Education Association (NEA); 1892

    * Then, in the 20th century things went awry, like w/ Samuel Bloom.

    “The purpose of education is not reading, writing, and arithmetic, but to change the thoughts, actions, and feelings of students. Good teaching is defined as challenging students’ fixed beliefs.
    I can take any student from a belief in God and country to being an atheist with no belief in country …in one hour.”
    (Common Unity – There is no role for the individual in the Community, everything in the Communist Soviet Union is based on the Commune, the Community – Common Unity.)

    – Benjamin Samuel Bloom; Communist and Top American Educational Psychologist
    “Bloom’s Taxonomy” (written in the 1950s) was required yearly for all teachers.

    * Upon God removed from the equation our schools went downhill; Bloom’s Taxonomy flew under the radar for a few decades.
