The Steel Research Institute, part of the Kalashnikov concern, has developed a new protective helmet for military personnel of the Russian army. The product will be demonstrated at the Expotechnoguard exhibition in St. Petersburg.
Specialists from the Steel Research Institute have developed a titanium protective helmet “Bars-L”, which in terms of protection area and external body kit is similar to the “Elbrus-T” armored helmet already put into mass production. “Bars” differs from “Elbrus” in its shape and protective characteristics. If in “Elbrus-T” the developers minimized the thickness of the titanium shell as much as possible, making it composite to reduce weight and simplify the technology, then in “Bars-L” the titanium shell is solid, which significantly increases the protective properties against the backdrop of a slight increase in the weight of the helmet itself.
