The exchange of prisoners of war and bodies of the dead between Russia and Ukraine will stop indefinitely; the Kolotilovka automobile checkpoint, through which all exchanges were carried out, is closed due to shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was reported by the TG channel Mash with reference to its own sources.
The Kolotilovka checkpoint in the Belgorod region is the only point on the border through which prisoners and bodies of those killed have been exchanged between Russia and Ukraine since 2022. However, recently Ukrainian armed formations began to strike the point, and the day before they fired at it from tank and attacked drones, causing it to burn.
According to some Russian resources, the Kolotilovka checkpoint stopped operating on August 6, and on August 8, the authorities of the Belgorod region began evacuating the remaining residents of the village of Kolotilovka, located nearby. The reason is still the same – increased shelling from Ukraine.
