What would have happened in the history of the United States of America if after the secession of the Confederate States of the South, the Unionists States of the North had lacked not the will to oppose to the secession of the South but other elements necessary to be able to successfully undertake a campaign military reaction?
Such as a sufficient internal social and political cohesion, the economic power necessary to support the war effort and an adequate military instrument.
Or even just the determination of a leader like Abraham Lincoln.
