The US Armed Forces began testing under the LTAMDS program to create a promising ground-based multifunctional missile defense radar

The US Army began conducting the first tests of missile defense (ABM) radar systems. This was stated by Brigadier General Frank Lozano, responsible for the implementation of the LTAMDS program to create a promising ground-based multifunctional radar station (RLS) for missile defense.

LTAMDS will serve as a radar for an integrated air defense and missile defense system aimed at boosting the power of legacy surface-to-air missile defense systems. By decision of Congress, by the end of this year, the US Army will include a battalion consisting of 4 radar stations.

It is worth noting that the American military-industrial company Raytheon was selected as the contractor for the development of the LTAMDS prototype in 2019.
