- Joe Biden is reportedly considering appointing Alejandro Mayorkas to serve as director of the Department of Homeland Security should he win the presidency.
- During the Obama administration, Mayorkas was found to have exerted improper political influence to help several prominent Democrats obtain visa authorization for their companies under the EB-5 program.
- An inspector general’s report released in March 2015 said that Mayorkas intervened to help a company owned by former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and the brother of Hillary Clinton.
- Mayorkas also allegedly intervened to help a casino represented by the son of Harry Reid.
In 2015, the Department of Homeland Security’s internal watchdog released a report saying that the agency’s second-in-command, Alejandro Mayorkas, “exerted improper influence” to help several politically-connected Democrats obtain approval to take part in a visa program that grants green cards to wealthy foreign investors…
