Truck crashes into house, bursts through other side but leaves no serious injuries

The owners of the house are staying at a hotel for the time being.

In what neighbors said sounded like an “explosion,” a truck careened towards a house in Downers Grove, Illinois on Friday afternoon, burst into the residence, and broke through the other side, leaving a trail of wood and drywall strewn all over the yard. The vehicle finally came to stop when it collided with a tree in the backyard of the property.

Miraculously, no one was seriously injured in the collision. The house residents were in the basement at the time of the crash, around 4:00 p.m., and out of harm’s way. The driver, who reportedly experienced a medical emergency while behind the wheel, was carried to a nearby hospital. He and one other passenger who was also in the car are both expected to make a full recovery.
