After anti-Israel protesters set up encampments at universities across the U.S., former President Donald Trump promised donors earlier this month that he would stifle the demonstrations and deport foreign-born student protesters if he wins a second term in the White House, participants in a May 14 roundtable with Trump told The Washington Post.
According to donors who were with Trump at the roundtable discussion in New York, the former president said, âOne thing I do is, any student that protests, I throw them out of the country. You know, there are a lot of foreign students. As soon as they hear that, theyâre going to behave.â
Trump also said the anti-Israel demonstrators were part of a âradical revolutionâ that he would push back against if heâs elected in November.
âWell, if you get me elected, and you should really be doing this, if you get me re-elected, weâre going to set that movement back 25 or 30 years,â he said.
Trump blasted the anti-Israel demonstrators, along with universities and law enforcement, after protesters set up encampments on campuses and blocked traffic on major roads. Authorities have said that some campus protests appeared to be co-opted by professional outside agitators…
