Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard published an email on Wednesday that raised a number of questions about former DNI James Clapper and how hard he pushed other members of the Intelligence Community (IC) to rally behind the Russia Hoax.
Gabbard shared a screenshot of the email, which was sent by Clapper in late December of 2016 to then FBI Director James Comey, then CIA Director John Brennan, and National Security Agency (NSA) Director Michael Rogers.
The Email That Changes Everything
This wasn’t some casual office memo. This was Clapper responding to serious concerns raised by NSA Director Mike Rogers. Rogers warned that his team hadn’t had enough access to the real intelligence. They didn’t have enough time to review it properly. Rogers was showing the kind of integrity we should expect from our intelligence leaders. He wrote that his team had raised red flags about the rushed assessment process.
Rogers was crystal clear. He said: “I’m concerned that my team aren’t fully comfortable saying they’ve had enough time to review all of the intelligence.” He wanted them to be “absolutely confident in their assessments.” He emphasized they had “one chance to get this right” before presenting findings to the President. You know what Clapper did? He basically told him to shut up and play ball.
