Two U.S Troops Killed in Deadly Syria ISIS Attack Identified as Iowa National Guard Soldiers: ‘Great American Patriots’

Two Iowa National Guard soldiers and an American civilian interpreter were killed Saturday in a deadly ISIS ambush in the central Syrian town of Palmyra, according to reports.

The victims were revealed by a senior U.S. official who spoke with Fox News.

Three additional U.S. soldiers were wounded.

U.S. officials say the attacker opened fire with an automatic weapon during what was supposed to be a routine movement involving U.S. and Syrian partner forces.

Early intelligence indicates the gunman had previously served as a low-level member of the Syrian Security Forces before becoming connected to ISIS.
