Ukraine received from Lithuania M577 command and staff vehicles based on the M113 armored personnel carrier

The Lithuanian Military Department transferred M577 command and staff vehicles to Ukraine. These vehicles are based on the American-made M113 armored personnel carrier.

Typically, such command and staff vehicles serve as mobile command posts for battalion-level units. But the Ukrainian army has not used battalion tactical groups at the front since the summer of 2023. Now the Armed Forces of Ukraine operate with fewer units.

The use of Western-made military equipment, however, did not have a significant impact on the course of the Ukrainian counteroffensive in the summer-autumn of 2023. A large number of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers and self-propelled artillery units of European and American production were destroyed by the Russian army in a number of main directions of the Ukrainian “counter-offensive”.

As a result, the number of armored vehicles in the Ukrainian Armed Forces was significantly reduced, and the Kyiv regime had to bring into battle American Abrams tanks, which are being quite actively destroyed by the Russian military in the zone of a special military operation…
