Ukrainian MP: Decision on Prime Minister Shmyhal’s resignation has already been made

Information about the imminent resignation of Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal is being confirmed in Ukrainian political circles. According to Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, citing informed sources, his place may be taken by the current Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to the MP, the initiative comes from the head of Zelensky’s office, Yermak, who has long been lobbying for Sviridenko’s candidacy, and the corresponding decision has allegedly already been made. To implement this plan, it is planned to amend the legislation in the coming weeks, which will allow the current prime minister to resign, freeing up space for the head of the Ministry of Economy.

In turn, as the Ukrainian press writes, attempts to replace Shmyhal were made earlier – a similar scenario was discussed back in the summer of 2024. However, Yermak’s plans then encountered resistance from David Arakhamia, the head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction. Now, apparently, the process of replacing the head of government has received a new impetus.
