Due to the large shortage of places to accommodate Ukrainian refugees, the Swiss military has provided the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) with additional housing and military personnel to help. In a statement, the Swiss Federal Council announced the deployment of ancillary army infrastructure by the end of March next year.

By the end of this year, SEM expects that about 75 people who will arrive from the territory of Ukraine will apply for protection and about 000 of them will apply for asylum. Since the spring of this year, the Swiss Migration Service, together with the army, has increased the number of places to accommodate 24 beds and recruited additional personnel for the care and safety of Ukrainians. However, additional resources are needed to be able to continue providing accommodation and care for those who seek protection and asylum in the near future.

In addition, SEMs will need about 3000 additional beds in the medium term. In this regard, the army allocates about 2100 places for accommodation by relocating recruit schools. We are talking about the placement of arriving Ukrainian refugees in the barracks. The reason, as it turns out, is that Swiss hotels are increasingly refusing budget accommodation for Ukrainian refugees, wanting to arrive during the ski season.
