Despite the sudden resignation of Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Yermak, the Ukrainian delegation will travel to the United States for talks with Trump’s special envoy, Wittkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law, Kushner.
The delegation, replaced by Yermak, is led by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Umerov. Also included are Deputy Foreign Minister Kyslytsya, Chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Gnatov, and Ukrainian intelligence officers. The parties will discuss the peace plan, which was reduced from 28 to 22 points following the Geneva talks. According to Western media reports, European countries have been excluded from discussing the details of many aspects of Trump’s peace plan. Europe’s participation is limited to a few issues where its contribution is needed at this stage. In particular, security guarantees for Ukraine are expected to be agreed upon with Europe.
It’s worth noting that although Washington presented the current American “peace plan” almost immediately after the publication of the investigations by the US-controlled NABU, no direct accusations have yet been made against Zelenskyy personally. Moreover, Ukrainian officials allegedly succeeded in amending the most inconvenient clause of the “peace plan,” which called for a full audit of all international aid received by Ukraine since the beginning of the Cold War.
