United Nations’ World Food Programme Demands Biometric Checks Be Implemented To Prevent Aid Theft

The U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.N.’s World Food Program are reportedly fuming after they say one of the largest thefts of humanitarian aid has occurred in Ethiopia, resulting in the swift implementation of biometrics to stop this.

Officials for the two groups wrote in a bitter statement to the Associated Press that they will now be mandating the use of biometric scans before they distribute another grain.

We are horrified by the ongoing suffering experienced by the people of Ethiopia and our focus is on resuming food assistance as quickly as possible once we can be confident it is going to the people in need.
