The Epoch Times The United States said it tested a hypersonic missile successfully for the second time, just weeks after Russia’s Defense Ministry said it fired such a weapon in Ukraine.
The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) confirmed the hypersonic test in a Tuesday news release. The test was carried out in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force, involving the “Lockheed Martin version of the Hypersonic Air-breathing Weapon Concept (HAWC).”
“This Lockheed Martin HAWC flight test successfully demonstrated a second design that will allow our warfighters to competitively select the right capabilities to dominate the battlefield,” HAWC program manager Andrew Knoedler said in a statement. “These achievements increase the level of technical maturity for transitioning HAWC to a service program of record.”…
