Some Americans sighed with relief when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted emergency use authorization (EUA) to the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna Covid vaccines in December of 2020. With a claimed 95-percent efficacy in protecting against Covid infection, the vaccines were seen as a glimmer of light at the end of the pandemic tunnel. To âget back to normal,â Americans needed to take the concoctions.
