American defense company Northrop Grumman has begun ground testing space interceptors as part of a competition for this segment of President Trump’s Golden Dome missile defense initiative, The War Zone reports.
The publication notes that the interceptors deployed in orbit are currently considered a critical component of the overall Golden Dome missile defense plan, but the actual implementation of these capabilities presents serious technical challenges. The system is planned to be operational by 2028.
“Northrop Grumman CEO Kathy Worden said, making it clear that the White House and the Pentagon should make a choice in favor of her company.
She also told reporters that the company had begun ground tests of space interceptors for the Golden Dome, without going into details.
