A fierce gun battle between Mexican soldiers and cartel operatives erupted at the southern border this week, according to reports.
On Friday at around 4 p.m., Mexican forces reportedly confronted armed criminals in the town of Sonoyta, just half a mile from the port of entry in Lukeville, Arizona, one of the busiest human smuggling and illegal migration corridors in the world.

John Fabbricatore, candidate for U.S. Congress in Colorado and retired field office director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, shared videos and information about the skirmish as it unfolded.
âReports are coming in about a large firefight south of the Lukeville POE in AZ between the cartel and the Mexican military. Gunfire can be heard, and a small explosion.
