Senator-elect Jim Banks (R-IN) laid out a step-by-step plan to deport all 15 million illegal aliens currently residing in the United States during an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash.
“One of the top issues in your campaign was immigration and the border. What is the first thing that you want the president-elect to do?” Bash asked the three-term congressman, who will be replacing new Indiana Governor-elect Mike Braun in the U.S. Senate.
Banks expressed confidence that immediately after being sworn in, Trump will restore a number of immigration executive orders, including the popular Remain in Mexico policy, that were rescinded by President Biden. The policy forced asylum seekers to remain in Mexico while their claims are processed, a sharp deviation of the Biden Administration’s “catch and release” policy, under which illegal aliens are transported to states of their choosing and given court papers.
