On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump took no prisoners in a tense exchange with an ABC News reporter during a convention geared toward Black journalists, ripping into the correspondent for asking what he called a “disgraceful” question. The reporter, Rachel Scott, asked Trump why Black voters should trust him with another four years in the White House. Scott kicked off the question-and-answer session with the former president by bringing up a plethora of comments he made in the past concerning what the left calls the “birther conspiracy” about former President Barack Obama, his alleged comments telling some Democratic lawmakers to “go back” to their countries of origin, and an alleged meeting with a so-called “white supremacist” held at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
“Why should Black voters trust you?” Scott asked, according to The Hill. “I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner. A first question. You don’t even say hello, how are you,” Trump replied. “Are you with ABC, because I think they’re a fake news network, a terrible network? I think it’s disgraceful that I came here in good spirit… I love the Black population of this country, I’ve done so much for the Black population of this country.”
