President Donald Trump signed the $900 billion National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on Thursday, which overwhelmingly advances his vision for the U.S. military. However, last-minute Congressional add-ins fly in the face of the America First agenda, reminding us that even in the Trump era, Congress remains a fortress for unwanted spending.

While the powerhouse funding supercharges Trump’s promises with massive investments in troop pay raises, the revolutionary Golden Dome missile defense system, and the codification of over a dozen of Trump’s executive orders, it’s far from a pure victory for Americans exhausted by Congress’ constant devotion to funding entrenched global commitments. Trump wanted money for the military and border security, and in return, Congress hamstrung his foreign policy agenda…
