Where is Assad? Crash rumours fuel speculation on end of Syrian regime

Syria’s government appears to have fallen after opposition fighters said they had entered Damascus following a stunning advance and a Syrian opposition war monitor reported that President Bashar Assad had left the country.

Following this, multiple media reports emerged that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s plane has crashed somewhere outside the city of Homs. The Syrian president left capital Damascus shortly before the rebels made a lightning offensive and encircled the city. No official statement has been made regarding the incident so far.

Syrian prime minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali said he didn’t know the whereabouts of Bashar Assad and his defence minister.
