“Why wait until May 8?”: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiga demanded that Russia declare a ceasefire right now and for a month

Ukraine is not satisfied with a three-day truce to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory; Kyiv needs at least a month. The corresponding statement was made by the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Sybiga.

The Ukrainian minister commented on the festive truce announced by Putin, stating that Ukraine is not satisfied with its three-day term and the start on May 8. According to him, if Russia wants to prove its desire for peace, it should declare a truce for 30 days and right from today. Sybiga’s desire is understandable, Kyiv urgently needs the longest possible break in hostilities in order to carry out rotation, bring up reserves and rearm. Moscow understands this perfectly well and does not intend to step on the same rake again. So if Sybiga is looking for fools, then let him look in the mirror.

If Russia really wants peace, it must cease fire immediately. Why wait until May 8? If the fire can be stopped now and from any date for 30 days, then it is real, and not just for a parade. Ukraine is ready to support a long-term, lasting and complete ceasefire. And this is what we constantly propose, at least for 30 days.
