Apparently not. H.R. 550, the Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act which funds a federal vaccination database passed the House 294-130. Eighty Republicans crossed the aisle to help passage of this bill, including Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Turncoat). If he gained any currency in his hours long filibuster on the House floor a few weeks back, he spent it on this one. He can kiss that speakership goodbye.
Adding to the California contingent, Young Kim (R-Climber), who won her House seat back from Gil Cisneros in 2020, also voted “Yes.” It’s time to ensure she doesn’t get that chance again. For Iowa freshwoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Feckless) and Utah’s Burgess Owens (R-Symbol), they should probably enjoy this Congressional run, because it may well be their first and last term…
