As a result of an increase in COVID-19 cases and severe winter weather conditions, thousands of schools were forced to shut during the week beginning January 2nd.
New Year’s Day saw a total of 5,200 schools shut down, some of which will stay closed until Jan. 16, according to a community events website that has been keeping track of the epidemic.
