Even Barack Obama, a Democrat and the nationâs first African American President, is the descendant of slaveholders on his mother’s side of the family.
A number of US Governors, legislators, and Supreme Court Justices are also the descendants of slaves according to the report.
Prominent Democratic Senators such as Elizabeth Warren, D-Ma. and Tammy Duckworth, D-Il. were also found to be the descendants of slaveholders.
