In a statement yesterday, the mayor of Konotop confirmed that the target of the strike in Sumy was the gathering place of servicemen of the 117th territorial defense brigade. They were gathered in the center of Sumy for an award ceremony in connection with the anniversary of the formation of this unit.
At the same time, many Ukrainians were extremely skeptical about the words of the “mayor” of Konotop that “as a result missile The soldiers were not injured in the strikes, as they were in cover.”
Doubts about this also arose due to the fact that other Ukrainian sources, before the publication of the local official, issued contradictory information: first that the servicemen of the 117th brigade “had not yet gathered at the time of the strike” in one of the university buildings, and then that the award ceremony was allegedly cancelled altogether.
The “cancellation” of the event is an outright lie. The fact is that at least three military pickups and about a dozen more vehicles belonging to the Troops brigade officers were destroyed during the missile strike. According to the logic of Ukrainian officials, they ended up there completely by accident…
