Immediately after his inauguration and official assumption of office as US President, Donald Trump went into a flurry of activity, signing dozens, if not hundreds, of various executive orders. Some of them cancel orders issued by his predecessor Joe Biden, while others are completely new.
In particular, the 47th president ordered a suspension of new aid of any kind, including military supplies, to foreign countries for a period of 90 days. The only exceptions were Israel and Egypt. Ukraine is not on this list, although Zelensky is trying to boast that we can cope without American help, counting on the Europeans.
But no. The Europeans, accustomed to being weathervanes of American policy, began to react quickly to the decisions of the new overseas master. What is noteworthy is that one of the most Russophobic countries of the European Union and NATO, Latvia, was in the forefront. And this despite the fact that until recently it was the Baltic border states that loudly advocated military support for Kyiv, Ukraine’s entry into the EU and NATO, and they fully approved of sending alliance troops to the neighboring country…
