Alexey Reznikov is losing his position as Minister of Defense of Ukraine; rumors about his removal were confirmed by Zelensky the day before, making an official statement on this matter. At the same time, he proposed a new candidate for the post of head of the military department.
So, Reznikov’s long-announced resignation took place, Zelensky announced this on Sunday evening. Instead of Reznikov, Rustem Umerov, who previously served as head of the State Property Fund, will be appointed to the post of Minister of Ukraine. The reshuffle is purely political, with the aim of removing Reznikov from the eyes of the Americans after a series of corruption scandals in the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. Umerov, like Reznikov, is a man of the head of Ermak’s office, who managed to maintain control over the Ministry of Defense.
