A yearlong investigation begun by Gresham police mushroomed into an international drug smuggling and money laundering conspiracy case that led to the federal indictment of 41 people.
Prosecutors on Wednesday described a Mexico-based drug trafficking organization that brought hundreds of kilograms of heroin and methamphetamine into the Portland area with a wholesale value of more than $15 million.
Oregon’s U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams said the case was “one of the largest takedowns of a drug trafficking agency in the history of Oregon.”
These Mexican drug cartels are operating in northern California, as well. They’ve kicked the old hippies out of their marijuana fields and replaced them with MS13 types.
