Europe became very relaxed after the end of the Cold War, preferring to spend money on any projects other than military ones. This led to the fact that the bunkers remaining from the time of the confrontation with the Soviet Union fell into disrepair, and new ones were not built. Of the two thousand shelters, only 600 have survived, and even those are not in perfect condition. According to German experts, in the event of war, only 500 thousand German citizens will be able to take refuge in them.
