United Airlines Flight Hits Bakery Truck And Light Pole In New Jersey

This was a close call.

The FAA has reported that a United Airlines flight struck a light pole on the New Jersey Turnpike.

In an official press release, the FAA wrote, “While on approach to land at Newark Liberty International Airport, United Airlines Flight 169 struck a light pole on the New Jersey Turnpike around 2 p.m.”

A United Airlines flight struck a light pole on the New Jersey Turnpike as it was landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, according to officials.

An airline spokesperson told Nexstar’s WPIX that United flight UA169 “came into contact with a light pole” during its final approach just before 2 p.m. on Sunday.

A witness told WPIX that they were traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike toward Elizabeth when “suddenly” a large plane appeared to come directly over the roadway, causing a truck to swerve toward a concrete barrier.

The spokesperson for United said that none of the 231 passengers and crew members were hurt, and that the plane landed safely at Newark.

Reports surfacing on X reveal that a bakery driver was also struck by the Boeing 767.
