Iranian sleeper cells may be hiding “in plain sight” throughout parts of rural America, according to one counterterrorism official who said their plots have been years or decades in the making.
President Donald Trump’s blistering series of attacks on the Middle Eastern nation may have activated Iranian terrorists embedded deep in the fabric of American life, said Jonathan Gilliam, a former FBI special agent who has worked on joint task forces seeking to uncover a nexus of dark forces lingering beneath the surface of domestic tranquility.
Those sleeper cell individuals may be right in plain sight, he said in a recent interview.
“Where these sleeper cells may be is in plain sight,” Gilliam explained. “And that’s the real terrifying part of this is that putting people in place, as we’ve seen over the past four years, everyone’s scrambling because certain amounts of people could come in here and get in here…
