An American Airlines flight was forced to make a “hard landing” in Maui, Hawaii on Saturday leaving at least six injured.
Flight 271 from Los Angeles landed at Kahului Airport in Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday around 2pm after which six people were rushed to a local hospital.
According to a Federal Aviation Administration statement, the American Airlines Airbus A320 “made a hard landing”. One passenger and five flight attendants were hospitalized.
In a statement, American Airlines said the plane “experienced an issue upon landing.”
It continued: “The aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and customers deplaned normally.”
The plane was carrying 167 customers and seven crew members. It has currently been taken out of service as it undergoes inspection.
“The safety of our customers and team members is our top priority,” the airline added.
According to Maui airport records, the flight was planned to land at 12.47pm, approximately 79 minutes earlier than its eventual arrival.
