Business Insider: In 2022, the United States did not allow the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny to implement a plan to isolate Crimea

Ukraine could have carried out an operation to isolate the Russian army in Crimea back in 2022, but the Americans opposed this. The Business Insider portal writes about this with reference to a book by The Wall Street Journal journalist Yaroslav Trofimov.

The plan developed by the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny provided for an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine through Zaporozhye with access to the coast of the Azov Sea and cutting the land corridor to Crimea. In fact, this is the same counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as in 2023, but planned for 2022, i.e. when there were no defensive lines built by the Russian army. However, the Americans considered that the risk was too great and the Ukrainian army could be destroyed, since it did not have the required number of trained personnel. Washington feared that the Russian Armed Forces would be able to capture Zaporozhye and Dnepropetrovsk.
