Child killed in Horseshoe Bend shooting; suspect taken into custody

A child in Horseshoe Bend was killed late Sunday night following what police describe as a random act of violence.

Idaho State Police says Benjamin Michael Poirier went to a trailer park on Canyon Street at about 10:25 p.m. in the small town and went to the front of the home and knocked on the door.

Police say Poirier, who didn’t know the family, started yelling about the end of the world and started shooting through the trailer.

A child under the age of 12 was struck and later died. The suspect got into the vehicle and ended up crashing the car into the same trailer. A Boise County deputy arrived on scene within about two minutes.

He’s been booked into the Ada County Jail on first degree murder.

Help Micah’s family

Micah Pecyna was killed Sunday night March 15th.  He was at home with family when a man knocked on the door and started yelling about the end of the world.

The man shot into the residence with a high powered rifle killing eleven year old Micah.   The man then crashed his car into the residence.  A deputy was close by and arrived within two minutes and along with residents they were able to apprehend the man.

Micah was a sweet gentle boy and this has devastated his family.  This family will need help with final expenses as well as medical bills.

The family will not be able to return to the home.
All funds raised will be given to Micah’s mother (Jolie French) to use as she needs.  Many of their valuables may not be salvageable and it will take a lot for them to get back on their feet.  Any help is much appreciated.
