Did Virologist Mislead U.S. Intelligence Officials on Possible COVID Lab Leak?

Congress is investigating virologist Kristian Andersen from the Scripps Institute after an email revealed he provided misleading information about the origin of SARS-CoV-2 to the public and intelligence agencies.

A virologist under investigation by Congress for allegedly misleading the public about the plausibility of a lab origin of SARS-CoV-2 may have also misled the U.S. Intelligence Community, or IC.

Kristian Andersen, Ph.D., a virologist at the Scripps Institute, assured officials across government agencies that SARS-CoV-2 was natural in a briefing organized by the U.S. Department of State’s intelligence analysts in early 2020, according to a new email obtained by U.S. Right to Know.

Since January 2020, Andersen has been at the forefront of efforts to stigmatize the idea of a lab origin of SARS-CoV-2 as a conspiracy theory.
